Marcus Glover Resigns as Horseshoe Casino Cleveland General Manager

News

It was announced late on Monday that Marcus Glover, Vice President and General Manager of Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, had resigned from his posts.

Mr. Glover was among the key figures in the launch of casino gambling on the territory of the city and the state as a whole. Horseshoe Cleveland opened doors back in 2012 to become the first fully-fledged casino in Ohio.

John Payne, Chief Executive Officer of Caesars Entertainment Operating Co., the operator that runs the gambling venue, said in a statement that Mr. Glover had decided to leave his current positions so as to pursue a new career opportunity. The executive is to assume his new post as of early July. However, Mr. Payne did not reveal what that would be. A spokeswoman for the executive also said that she could not provide more details about his new occupation at this point.

Mr. Glover joined Horseshoe Cleveland almost five years ago and it was his responsibility to oversee the construction and the launch of the property. According to the Monday statement, he managed to build strong relationships with city officials as well as community and corporate leaders.

Scott Lokke, currently taking the position of Assistant General Manager at Horseshoe Cleveland, is to take Mr. Glover’s roles until a permanent replacement is appointed. Further information is to be provided in the weeks to come.

Prior to joining the Horseshoe Cleveland team, Mr. Glover was taking the positions of Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Operations at Harrah’s St. Louis Casino.

As for Mr. Lokke, he has been employed at Caesars Entertainment for more than 11 years now. He took leading positions at several properties run by the major gambling operator. At Horseshoe Cleveland, it has been his responsibility to oversee the casino’s operations, including food and beverage and gaming.

Prior to arriving in Cleveland, he worked at Harrah’s North Kansas City, where he was a Vice President of the property’s hospitality operations at some point.

Mr. Lokke had taken a number of hospitality positions across the country before joining Caesars. For instance, he had worked with prominent companies, such as The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The announcement about Mr. Glover departure came as the Ohio Casino Control Commission posted information about the adjusted gross revenue generated by the state’s four casinos in May 2015. According to the data released, Horseshoe Cleveland performed best during the reviewed period. Revenue at the property amounted to $19 million. However, a slight 2.4% drop was reported as compared to the $19.5 million generated in May 2014.
