The $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better or Event #31 in this year’s WSOP schedule was completed mere hours ago with poker pro Jeff Madsen emerging victorious over its field to capture his fourth career bracelet and the amount of $301,413.
The event attracted a total of 480 entries who created a prize pool of $1,310,400. The top 54 finishers received payouts, which started from $5,071.
Madsen captured bracelets number one and two back in 2006, when he was 21 years old. Thus, he became the youngest player to ever accomplish such a feat. He won his third bracelet in 2013. Up to now, the player has collected $2,650,499 from 40 different WSOP events. His overall live career earnings amount to $4,959,610.
The nine-handed final table of this year’s $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better included both poker veterans and rookies. Aside from Madsen, Rami Boukai and David “ODB” Baker were the other two bracelet holders at the table. Spencer Chen and Huarong Ma, on the other hand, scooped their first WSOP cashes.
Madsen faced French player Jeanmarc Thomas in the final heads-up play. On what turned out to be the last hand, the Frenchman raised to 240,000 and Madsen announced “pot.” Thomas shoved all-in and his opponent called.
Thomas showed [Ac][9c][2h][2s] against Madsen’s [As][10h][6c][9c]. The board ran out [6d][7s][6h][Jc][7c] and it became clear that Thomas was to content himself with the runner-up finish and a consolation prize of $186,548.
San Diego-based player Rami Boujai finished 3rd in the event to capture the amount of $123,976, his 16th WSOP cash. As mentioned above, he holds one WSOP bracelet, which he won back in 2009 for topping the field of a Mixed Pot-Limit Hold’em/Omaha event.
Richard Tucker from Charlotte, North Carolina took 4th place. This was his third-ever WSOP cash. The player scooped the amount of $92,003.
Sun Kwak from Hicksville, New York finished 5th to receive a $69,004 payout. Irish player John O’Shea captured the amount of $52,324 for his 6th place. Huarong Ma from China took home $40,006 for finishing 7th in the event.
One-time bracelet winner David “ODB” Baker from Katy, Texas added $30,833 to his poker bankroll for taking 8th place. Rounding up the final table, California-based player Spencer Chen finished 9th to win the amount of $23,941.
