Byron Kaverman from Columbus, Ohio topped the field of the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Championship, known to be one of the toughest WSOP events, to capture his first-ever gold bracelet and the amount of $657,351.

Event #37 in this year’s WSOP schedule saw 259 entries trying to capture a portion of the prize pool, which amounted to $2,434,600, and to get their hands on the coveted piece of jewelry. Of all the players who entered the tournament, only the top 30 finishers were paid, with the payouts starting from $17,456.

The event’s seven-handed final table featured three gold bracelet holders – Doug Polk, Paul Volpe, and Sam Greenwood, who captured his first WSOP title a few days ago. However, none of them could stand a chance against Kaverman.

In fact, it was Polk that the eventual champion had to face for one final heads-up duel. Hand #82 of the event’s Day 3 turned out to be the last one in play. Polk moved his 1 million chips in and Kaverman called. Polk showed [Qd][Jc] against his opponent’s [As][5s]. The board ran out [10c][7h][5h][4h][4c] and it became clear that the one-time bracelet winner would have to content himself with the second-place prize of $406,261.

As for Kaverman, he added $657,351 to his poker bankroll. Now, his live tournament earnings amount to a little less than $5 million. This was the player’s 20th WSOP cash. With Kaverman’s latest victory, his WSOP winnings are now totaling $1,158,524.

It could be said that the Ohio-born poker pro has had quite a successful year so far. Apart from collecting his first WSOP bracelet, he also topped the fields of two Aria $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller events in March to collect $282,948 and $243,240, respectively. In January, he finished 2nd in a similar event to scoop the amount of $282,435.

And here are the rest of the players who sat at Event #37’s final table. German Fedor Holz finished 3rd to capture $268,463 of the prize pool. Thomas Muehloecker from Vienna, Austria collected his 9th WSOP cash of $182,448 for taking 4th place.

Canadian Sam Greenwood, who captured his first bracelet last week and has cashed in four 2015 WSOP events so far, finished 5th in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Championship. He was paid the amount of $126,745 for his efforts.

Paul Volpe from West Chester, Pennsylvania took 6th place for $89,984. Volpe became the first player to make three final table appearances in this year’s edition of the Series. Furthermore, he has been topping the 2015 GPI WSOP Player of the Year ranking for a 15th consecutive day.

Rounding up the official final table, Kenneth Fishman from Tampa, Florida finished 7th to scoop $65,125 of the prize pool.
