Jon Andlovec Wins 2015 WSOP $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em

The inaugural $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em event, part of this year’s edition of the WSOP, was completed several hours ago. Poker player Jon Andlovec from Carson City, Nevada won it to capture the amount of $262,220 and his first career WSOP bracelet.

As mentioned above, the event was held for the first time ever and attracted a field of 1,533 entrants, aged 65 and over. They created a prize pool of $1,379,700 and the top 171 finishers got their share of it. The payouts started from $1,821.

Up to now, Andlovec has collected $324,703 from four WSOP events. It is also interesting to note that all his cashes were from final table appearances.

The 70-year-old poker veteran faced two-time bracelet winner Rod Pardey from Las Vegas, Nevada for one final heads-up duel. The nine-handed final table featured yet another holder of the prestigious piece of WSOP jewelry. Perry Green, who finished 8th, has previously won three gold bracelets.

The heads-up duel between Andlovec and Pardey lasted only about 20 minutes before the name of the champion was announced. Hand #118 turned out to be the last one in play. The flop ran out [3h][10h][9h]. Holding [3c][7h], Andlovec bet 600,000 and his opponent called to put all his chips in. Pardey tabled [Ah][8c]. The [Ks] appeared on the turn and the river showed [3d] to secure Andlovec with three of a kind and the title.

Pardey received $162,100 for his runner-up finish. Up to now, the player has collected almost $700,000 from 12 WSOP events. He captured his two bracelets in 1991 and 1994.

Charles Havens from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin took 3rd place to scoop his first WSOP cash of $106,678. Wayne “Buz” Knyal from Los Angeles, California was another player to make his first final table appearance at the Series. He finished 4th to capture $76,904.

Thomas Lock from Henderson, Nevada was paid $56,291 for finishing 5th in the $1,000 Super Seniors. Last night, he cashed in a WSOP event for the first time in 10 years.

Mark Estes from Grapevine, Texas finished 6th and received $41,804 for his efforts. This was his second WSOP cash. Ted Cohen from Bonita Springs, Florida took 7th place to add $31,484 to his bankroll.

Three-time bracelet winner Perry Green missed the chance to capture his fourth title, but finished 8th in the event. The 79-year-old player from Anchorage, Alaska received $24,034.

Rounding up the final table, Mark Schwartz from Buffalo Grove, Illinois took $18,584 for his 9th-place finish.
