Olivier Busquet Takes 2nd Place in the GPI WSOP Player of the Year Leaderboard

Day 29 of the 46th Annual World Series of Poker has been completed but no one managed to collect enough points to overthrow Paul Volpe from his top position in the GPI WSOP Player of the Year ranking.

The Pennsylvania-based player seems to feel quite comfortable at its top, as he has been ranking 1st in the prestigious leaderboard for 20 consecutive days now. Up to this point, Volpe has cashed in five WSOP events on this year’s schedule and has collected 1631.59 points and $527,227 from those.

After the end of Day 29, New York-based poker pro Olivier Busquet is taking 2nd place in the ranking with 1395.66 points. The player has been doing quite well since the beginning of the 2015 WSOP. He made it to the money in six events.

First, he finished 10th in Event #10: $10,000 Heads Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship for 245.51 points and $26,490. Then, Busquet took 107th place in Event #12: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed for 115.37 points and $3,610.

The player scooped 328.61 points from Event #16: MILLIONAIRE MAKER $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em. He was also paid the amount of $589,569 for his 3rd place in the event, his best cash since the beginning of this year’s edition of the Series.

His 32nd-place finish in Event #25: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed secured him with 214.09 points and $13,578. The player also took part in Event #37: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Championship to take 8th place and capture $65,125 of the entire prize pool. He also collected 344.53 GPI points. Busquet’s latest WSOP cash amounted to $7,283. He received it for finishing 50th in Event #45: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em. The in-the-money finish also secured the player with 147.55 points.

Busquet has cashed in a total of 27 different WSOP events since the beginning of his poker career. His WSOP earnings currently amount to $1,471,534.

As for his overall live tournament earnings, they total $6,819,502. The player won his best live cash of €896,434 ($1,188,996) in August 2014, when he topped the field of the EPT Season 11/ESPT Season 5 Barcelona €48,500 + 1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller.

Apart from his 2nd place in the GPI WSOP Player of the Year ranking, Busquet also ranks 16th in the GPI leaderboard and 31st in the GPI Player of the Year one.
