The 2015 WSOP $10,000 Main Event is currently taking place at Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Day 2C, the last of the event’s multiple-flight days, was completed with Florida-based player David Jackson as the chip leader. He managed to bag up a total of 408,800 chips.
This year, the Main Event attracted 6,420 entries who created a prize pool of $60,348,000. The top 1000 finishers are to receive their portion of the prize pool and the payouts start from $15,000. The champion, whose name is to become clear in November, is to capture the amount of $7,680,021.
Day 2C of the Main Event saw as many as 2,765 players returning from Day 1C to play five more levels. As mentioned above, David Jackson from Jacksonville, Florida emerged as the chip leader by the end of the day.
This summer, Jackson cashed in three WSOP events. He grabbed $1,398 for finishing 1972nd in Event #5: THE COLOSSUS $565 No-Limit Hold’em, $23,660 for his 10th-place finish in Event #45: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, and $13,077 for taking 43rd place in Event #61: $1,111 The Little One for One Drop. Up to now, his career WSOP winnings total $221,633, with his biggest cash amounting to $183,498 for his 4th-place finish in the 2014 WSOP Event #55: No-Limit Hold’em.
Apart from Jackson, Zach Jiganti and Shawn Van Asdale were the other two players to end Day 2C with major stacks. The first managed to collect 401,900 chips by the end of the day and the latter bagged up 388,000.
The three players are actually sitting behind Amar Anand with 603,500, Calvin Lee with 500,700, Luther Tran with 479,700, and Charles Chattha with 423,300, who won the most chips on Day 2A/B of the Main Event.
As mentioned above, Day 2C was the last of the multiple-flight ones on the event’s schedule. Day 3 will see all remaining 1,824 players returning for five more levels. Play is scheduled to resume at 12 pm.
Some of the notables that are to be seen at the tables will be former WSOP Main Event champions Scotty Nguyen, who has 181,200 chips, Phil Hellmuth with 88,800, and Ryan Reiss with 291,700. Multiple bracelet winners Daniel Alaei with 199,800 and Daniel Negreanu with 123,600 will also be among those returning for Day 3.
However, prominent poker pros like Phil Ivey and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier were not that lucky and will have to wait until the next year in order to get a chance for winning the WSOP Main Event.
