Atlantic City June Casino Revenue Rises 5.5% YoY

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement said in a statement that revenue at Atlantic City’s eight casinos amounted to $216.5 million in June 2015, up 5.5% as compared to what was posted for the same month a year ago.

Revenue from land-based operations amounted to $204.9 million last month. Of those, slot machines generated $148.5 million. Table games posted revenue of $56.4 million. Internet gaming increased 22.8% year-on-year to reach $11.7 million in June.

Including the gambling venues that closed doors last year, revenue decreased 8.2% year-on-year.

Four of Atlantic City’s eight operating casinos posted an increase in their overall revenue last month. The Borgata generated a total of $60.3 million, up 16.8%. Of those, casino win amounted to $56.7 million and Internet operations amounted to $3.5 million.

Revenue at Golden Nugget increased 30.8% to reach $19.7 million. Casino win totaled $17.1 million in June 2015, and online operations generated $2.5 million. Harrah’s reported a 7.3% rise in overall revenue. It amounted to $31.8 million last month. The casino does not feature Internet gambling. Resorts generated a total of $14.1 million, up 22.7% year-on-year. Casino win totaled $13.7 million. As for online operations, they generated $400,600 in June.

Last month, Bally’s AC reported a 3% decrease in its revenue. It posted casino win of $17.4 million. The venue does not offer Internet operations. Revenue at Caesars dropped 2.4% to $28.2 million. Tropicana generated $27.2 million, down 1.5% year-on-year. Casino win amounted to $24.6 million and Internet win totaled 2.7 million. Trump Taj Mahal posted a 23.5% decrease in revenue for June. It amounted to $15.3 million.

Atlantic City’s eight gambling venues generated overall revenue of $1.2 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2015. In comparison, the same eight casinos posted the amount of $1.17 billion for the same period a year ago. In other words, revenue at the properties increased 4.2% year-on-year. Including the discontinued operators, it dropped 10.1%, as the amount of $1.4 billion was posted this time last year.

The city’s eight casinos contributed to the state as much as $16.5 million in gaming taxes in June. Under the current gambling laws, venues pay 8% of their casino win and 15% of what online operations generated. In addition to this, $2.9 million were contributed to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.
