The Global Poker Index has just released the latest update of its leaderboard. Jason Mercier is at its top for a second consecutive year with 4,020.74 points. Scott Seiver is taking 2nd place. He has collected 3,928.27 GPI points so far. Anthony Zinno is this week’s number 3 with 3,896.52 points.
Dan Smith with 3,818.38 points and Stephen Chidwick with 3,748.13 points are the other two players who entered top 5 of the world’s most prestigious poker ranking.
This week’s update showed poker pro David Peters from Toledo, Ohio returning to top 20. The player has collected 3,255.78 points since the beginning of 2015 and is ranking 18th. As for his GPI Player of the Year rank, he is currently taking 25th place with a total of 2,591.39 points.
A lot could be said about Peters. The player’s overall live tournament earnings amount to $6,733,218. Aside from this, he is quite successful online. He has scooped $4,636,765 in online winnings under the screen name ‘Davidp18’.
Peters has had a quite profitable year so far. For instance, he captured the biggest live cash in his career. The player took 5th place in the $500,000 Super High Roller Bowl, which took place early in July. There, he was paid the amount of $1,505,000.
As for his performance during this summer’s WSOP, Peters cashed in 3 events and made one final table appearance. He finished 3rd in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout to add $91,575 to his poker bankroll. Generally speaking, the player has as many as 34 in-the-money finishes in various Series events. His career WSOP winnings amount to $1,262,546. Although he has not captured gold bracelets so far, Peters can boast of one Circuit gold ring. He won it back in 2008, when he topped the filed of the WSOP Circuit Caesars Palace Las Vegas $1,060 No-Limit Hold’em event.
Earlier this year, the Ohio-based player emerged victorious in the €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller during the inaugural EPT Season 11 Malta poker festival. He was paid the amount of €597,000 ($653,552) for his triumph.
Another major achievement was his 1st place in a $10,030 No-Limit Hold’em event part of the 2013 Bellagio Cup IX festival in Las Vegas. There, the player scooped a $355,093 portion of the prize pool. Furthermore, Peters took 2nd place in the 2010 WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event for $350,803. And the list with his career cashes goes on and on, revealing first-place finishes and final table appearances at some of the world’s most prestigious poker events.
