Manx Telecom Extends Contract with PokerStars

News

Isle of Man-based provider of broadband and telecommunication services Manx Telecom announced earlier today that it had won a three-year hosting contract with PokerStars, the world’s biggest online card room.

The communications solutions provider said that under its agreement with PokerStars, as many as 48 data hosting racks and related equipment will be moved from Dublin to its Tier 3 Greenhill Data Center (GDC) located on the Isle of Man. The center was opened in 2014.

Being one of Manx Telecom’s customers since 2005, the online card room has extended its agreement with the provider adding a number of new services to the existing ones.

Gary Lamb, Chief Executive Officer of Manx Telecom, said in a statement from earlier today that the contract extension is indicative of the “successful relationship” his company has with PokerStars. Furthermore, the agreement could be seen as yet another endorsement of their commitment to spend £10 million on their GDC project.

Manx Telecom has completed phase one of its ambitious venture. Mr. Lamb pointed out that the center already provides customers with a number of hosting services. The newly signed agreement enables the supplier to proceed with phase two of its project, which is expected to be completed this fall.

Mr. Lamb concluded that the contract with PokerStars is “excellent news” for his company and its reputation as a world class provider of hosting services.

Back in July, Manx Telecom announced that trading during the first half of the year was in line with the initial expectations. Its core domestic business performed quite well during the reported period due to the introduction of new broadband offering and the expansion of the 4G mobile service across the Isle of Man.

The company also reported substantial growth in its critical connection, traveler, and machine-to-machine market segments.

As for PokerStars, it launched on Monday a massive Facebook marketing campaign featuring football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr., who recently became ambassadors for the popular poker brand. Two promotional video clips have been uploaded on the players’ Facebook pages, thus allowing their followers to watch them two weeks before their official release.

As of earlier today, Ronaldo’s promotional video has been seen more than 1 million times and Neymar’s has been viewed more than 750,000 times.
