After the latest update of the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard, Anthony Zinno still ranks 1st with 4,192.90 points. He is followed by Connor Drinan with 3,771.11 points and Scott Seiver with 3,610.29 points.

It is interesting to note that eight-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Erik Seidel climbed 7 positions over the past week to enter top 10 of the leaderboard and take 8th place, his best GPI Player of the Year rank so far. He has collected 3,286.10 points since the beginning of 2015.

Seidel, born in New York in 1959 and currently residing in Las Vegas, is considered to be one of the world’s best poker players. As mentioned above, he has collected a total of 8 WSOP gold bracelets since the beginning of his career. With live tournament winnings currently amounting to $25,444,446, Seidel ranks 3rd in the all-time money list.

It could be said that the player has had quite a profitable year so far. He has collected a little less than $5 million over the past eight months. In January, he took 6th place in the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship A$100,000 No-Limit Hold’em Challenge, where he added A$500,000 ($395,070) to his poker bankroll. A few days later, the player finished 5th in the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship A$250,000 LK Boutique Challenge for a A$551,000 ($427,519) payout.

In April, Seidel topped the elite field of the EPT Season 11 Grand Final €100,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller to capture the first-place prize of €2,015,000 ($2,222,222).

This summer, the player did not manage to add more gold bracelets to his impressive collection of 8 pieces. Yet, he cashed in 4 WSOP events to scoop a little more than $100,000. Speaking of his WSOP performance, Seidel has captured a total of $5,087,102 in 92 Series events. Apart from winning 8 WSOP events over the years, the player also almost emerged victorious $10,000 Main Event back in 1988. However, he had to content himself with the runner-up finish as he could not hold up against Johnny Chan in quite an exciting heads-up match.

Seidel’s latest achievement was a seventh-place finish in the inaugural Aria $500,000 Super High Roller Bowl. There, the player added $860,000 to his poker bankroll.

Apart from his 8th place in the GPI Player of the year leaderboard, Seidel currently ranks 27th in the GPI one with 3,199.39 points.
