Paul Volpe Re-enters GPI Player of the Year Top 10

One-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Paul Volpe returned to top 10 of the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard, its traditional Wednesday update shows. The player has collected as many as 3,274.50 points since the beginning of the year.

Volpe climbed 3 positions over the past week and currently ranks 10th in the prestigious leaderboard. In addition, he has been 9th in the GPI ranking for the past three weeks with 3,547.33 points.

The Pennsylvania-born player is in fact no stranger to the world of poker, with his gold bracelet and 1st places in a number of popular tournaments across the globe. Volpe captured his piece of WSOP jewelry during the 2014 edition of the world’s biggest poker festival. He topped the elite field of the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball event to capture the amount of $253,524 and his first and only so far Series gold bracelet.

Speaking of his WSOP performance, Volpe cashed in a total of 6 events this summer bagging up more than $500,000. Furthermore, he made 4 final table appearances and 2 second-place finishes. The player was runner-up to Charles Keith Lehr in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Heads-Up Championship, where he collected $206,620. He also finished 2nd in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em Championship for $197,048. It is also interesting to note that Volpe topped the newly introduced GPI WSOP Player of the Year Ranking for more than 3 weeks during this year’s edition of the Series.

Apart from the WSOP, the player has also cashed in a number of other events since the beginning of the year. In January, he topped the field of the PCA $2,200 No-Limit Hold’em event for $89,140. In February, he collected $27,570 for emerging victorious in the Commerce Casino $1,600 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty.

In March, the poker pro took 2nd place in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars $25,000 No-Limit High Roller event for $194,242, playing against Anthony Zinno in a heads-up match. In July, Volpe finished 5th in the $2,500 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship to scoop a $63,202 portion of the prize pool.

So far, the player has collected a total of $3,958,476 from various live tournaments. What is more, it seems that Volpe feels equally comfortable online as he has cashed more than $5 million at the tables of online poker rooms.
