The Global Poker Index posted on Wednesday the traditional update of its ranking. It showed Jason Mercier still at its top with a total of 4,043.95 points. Anthony Zinno climbed 2 positions over the past week and took 2nd place in the ranking. The player has collected 4,021.32 points so far. Byron Kaverman dropped 1 position to take 3rd place with 3,987.89 points.
This week, little movement was seen in the leaderboard’s top 20. Yet, Canadian poker pro Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah was among the notables to return to the group of the 20 highest ranking players. After this week’s update, he took 20th place with 3,235.05 points. He also maintained his 31th position in the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard for a second consecutive week.
Leah is currently one of Canada’s best poker players with live tournament earnings of $4,741,245 from a number of first places and final table appearances in prestigious events. He is also quite profitable online. The player has won a total of $2,554,485 at the tables of different online poker rooms.
His cash history shows that Leah has cashed in as many as 14 events since the beginning of the year, collecting a little less than $1 million. His best achievement in 2015 was his 2nd place in the L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship held at Commerce Casino between February 28 and March 5. His runner-up finish in the event secured him with the amount of $701,350 and a total of 554.31 GPI points.
Although Leah did not win a WSOP gold bracelet this summer, he cashed in 9 Series events to capture about $150,000. He also made two final table appearances to finish 4th in the $10,000 Seven-Card Razz Championship for $75,964 and 7th in the 2-7 Draw Lowball No-Limit event for $8,381.
It could be said that 2014 was much more successful and profitable for Leah. He won his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet for topping the field of the WSOP APAC A$25,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller. He also collected the amount of A$600,000 for his triumph.
A second-place finish in the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5,300 Main Event secured him with $1,047,638, his best live cash so far.
Apart from his gold bracelet, Leah can also boast of two WSOP Circuit gold rings. He won those last year for emerging victorious in two Circuit events held at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles.
