All poker eyes are now on Casino de Barcelona in Spain, where Season 12 of the European Poker Tour was launched a few days ago. Being indisputably one of the most popular EPT destinations, Barcelona will most definitely provide both players and fans with a lot of excitement over the next several days.

And the €220 No-Limit Hold’em Women’s Event, which was completed on Sunday, August 23, really proved to be an extremely exciting one. At first, the event was to be just a one-day one but the record field it attracted resulted in it being extended by one more day. A total of 148 female poker players entered the event to create a prize pool of €28,712.

According to people with knowledge of the matter, this was the largest women’s event field in the history of EPT. And Australian television presenter Lynn Gilmartin topped the record number of entries to capture the first-place prize of €5,890 and the tournament trophy.

Gilmartin is no stranger to the world of poker. She is a former PokerNews and PokerStars reporter, known for representing prestigious tournaments such as the EPT, WSOP, LAPT, APPT, etc. However, Gilmartin is probably best known for her role as an anchorwoman of the WPT on Fox Sports. She also covers the WPT Alpha 8 tour.

Commenting on her victory, Gilmartin said that she was extremely excited and that “the trophy means the world” to her. The popular poker personality also noted that she is contemplating on entering the Barcelona Main Event.

The Women’s Event champion faced fellow Australian Heather Dorazio heads-up. The two players decided to make a two-way deal, with both of them receiving at least €5,690. The remaining €200 were to be paid to the winner. Eventually, Dorazio had to content herself with the runner-up finish.

And here are the rest of the players who sat at the event’s final table as well as their respective payouts:

Angela Del Re from Italy finished 3rd to collect the amount of €3,100. German Carolin Spath took 4th place for a payout of €2,550. Hiromi Miyakawa received €2,052 for her 5th place in the event.
