No changes have taken place in top 3 of the GPI leaderboard over the past 7 days. Jason Mercier is still 1st for an eighth consecutive week with 4,245.59 points. Anthony Zinno ranks 2nd with 4,026.49 points and Byron Kaverman is 3rd with 3,982.06 points. Scott Seiver with 3,917.99 points and Nicholas Petrangelo with 3,817.84 points are the two players who entered top 5 of the ranking after its weekly update.
A notable top 20 returnee this week is Thomas Muehloecker. The Austrian player climbed 11 positions and now ranks 14th with 3,425.34 points accumulated since the beginning of the year. Muehloecker is no stranger to the poker scene. He currently ranks 1st in his country’s all-time money list with overall live tournament earnings of $2,488,323.
The Austrian poker pro has cashed in 10 events since the beginning of the year and was spotted at the tables of the PCA, the Aussie Millions Poker Championship, the inaugural EPT Season 11 Malta, the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, the 46th annual WSOP, and last but not least, the EPT Season 12 Barcelona.
During the 2015 PCA festival, Muehloecker had two in-the-money finishes – a 37th place in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for $31,820 and a 22nd one in the $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed event for $63,260.
The player also cashed in two Aussie Million Poker Championship events this year. He took 12th place in the A$1,250 No-Limit Hold’em Shotclock Shootout for A$3,860 ($3,171). A few days later he collected A$195,000 ($157,727) for his fifth-place finish in the A$25,000 No-Limit Hold’em Challenge.
As mentioned above, the Austrian poker pro could also be spotted at the tables of the first-ever EPT Malta poker festival. He cashed in two events to collect a little less than €40,000 in those. During the EPT Season 11 Grand Final, which was held in Monte Carlo as usual, Muehloecker made one in-the-money finish. He took 6th place in the €100,000 No-Limit Super High Roller to collect €427,100 ($471,023).
At this year’s edition of the WSOP, the Austrian collected $182,448 for his fourth-place finish in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed Championship. He also cashed in one more No-Limit Hold’em event to receive $5,413.
Muehloecker’s latest in-the-money finish was his 21st place in the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8 Max for €37,300 ($42,124). It is interesting to note that Muehloecker won that same event two years ago. In September 2013, The player received €390,700 ($522,633) for topping the field of the EPT Season 10 €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller and defeating popular poker pro Daniel Negreanu heads-up.
