The long-awaited TwitchCon 2015 starts today. The popular live streaming platform is to host a two-day conference and exhibition that would include panels with popular gamers and industry experts as well as a number of related events that would be intended to entertain attendees. It is taking place at Moscone West in downtown San Francisco.

Twitch is best known as the preferred platform by gamers around the world where they can stream live while playing their favorite games and share their gaming experience with practically anyone. However, the website has gradually gained popularity among other groups of users, such as musicians and other artists that create art related to the world’s most popular video games, for instance.

Twitch has recently become a comfortable nook for poker players as well. In fact, many consider the popular platform the next big boom in the world of poker. It all started with professional poker player Jason Somerville and his Run it UP! poker series. He started streaming live on Twitch in 2014, encouraging people to watch carefully and take advantage of the tips he provides them with. As of today, September 25, Somerville’s Twitch channel has more than 8 million total views and a little less than 134,000 followers.

A number of other popular poker players followed his lead and started streaming live on the platform while playing, with Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and Liv Boeree being among them. Thus, Twitch became an important part of the evolution of poker and its introduction to a larger public.

Bearing this in mind, organizers of TwitchCon 2015 considered it a good idea to invite some of the world’s best poker players, who are at the same time among the platform’s most popular broadcasters, to provide their comments on why poker and streaming on Twitch are currently going hand in hand.

The special Poker on Twitch panel is scheduled to start today at 8:30 pm local time and poker players Jaime Staples, Evan Jarvis, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Phil Hellmuth, and Randy Lew together with the Twitch Manager for Community Development and Poker will take part in it. As mentioned above, all of the speakers run quite successful Twitch channels and will be able to comment on the future of poker and live streaming as part of its further popularization adequately and comprehensively.
