Gold ring number five of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana tournament found its owner last night. Cody Pack from Cartersville, Georgia emerged victorious in the $365 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed to capture his third-ever piece of WSOP Circuit jewelry and the amount of $13,776 of the entire prize pool.
It is interesting to note that Pack has won his three pieces for less than one calendar year. He collected his first gold ring in December 2014 for topping the field of the 2014/15 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee North Carolina $365 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em. As for ring number two, it came last month when the player emerged victorious in the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club Florida $365 No-Limit Hold’em. Thus, Pack actually became the first player to win two pieces this season.
The Horseshoe Southern Indiana $365 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event attracted a total of 164 entries who created a prize pool of $49,200. The top 18 spots got paid, with payouts starting from $610. It took two days of play for the name of the winner to be announced.
Day 1 of the event started on Monday at noon local time and play continued until there were only nine remaining players. This happened well into Level 19. Day 2 saw the nine finalists returning to determine the eventual winner. And his name became clear in Level 24.
Pack had to face Charles Newman from Moore, South Caroline in a heads-up match. At the end, Pack defeated his last remaining opponent with pocket aces. Interestingly enough, the player captured his first gold ring holding pocket aces, as well. So far, Pack has cashed in 17 Circuit events and has collected a little less than $75,000.
Here are the rest of the nine finalists and their respective payouts:
Charles Newman from Moore, South Carolina finished 2nd for $8,516. Thomas Fredericks from Carmel, Indiana took 3rd place for a payout of $6,114. Charlie Dawson from Owensboro, Kentucky collected $4,395 for finishing 4th in the event. Jason Allen from Fairdale, Kentucky finished 5th for $3,160.
