Event #6 in the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana was completed last night with Indianapolis resident Connor Graham emerging victorious over the field and collecting his first Circuit cash of $11,928 as well as his first-ever gold ring.
The $365 No-Limit Hold’em attracted a total of 142 entries who created a prize pool of $42,600. Of all the participants, only the top 15 finishers were paid, with payouts starting from $719. It took two days and 23 levels of play for the winner to be determined. The event started on October 6 and entries played 17 levels to set the nine-handed final table. Day 2 saw the finalists returning and play lasted three and a half hours.
Graham had to face quite tough competitors, with gold ring holders Charles Moore and Joseph Mattingly being among those. In fact, the latter won his piece only a few days ago for topping the field of Event #1 in the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana schedule.
It was Jeffrey Traynor from Louisville, Kentucky whom Graham faced heads-up. Eventually, the latter emerged victorious with pocket nines to capture the gold ring and the first-place prize. As for his heads-up opponent, he took home the amount of $7,373.
Soon after his victory, Graham told interviewers that he felt like he would win the event since its very beginning. The player also explained that he was not there for the money but for the ring and that he was happy to eventually win the piece. As mentioned above, the 27-year-old Indianapolis resident has never collected a WSOP-related cash or non-monetary prize before.
And here are the rest of the players who appeared at the event’s final table:
Stephen Hawley from Richmond, Kentucky captured $5,322 for finishing 3rd. Joseph Mattingly from Springfield, Kentucky took 4th place for $3,910. Justin Harvell from Lynnwood, Washington finished 5th for a payout of $2,923. Gregory Wilson from Streamwood, Illinois received $2,923 for his 6th place in the event.
Two-time gold ring winner Charles Moore from Las Vegas, Nevada finished 7th to take home the amount of $1,718. Todd Brenn from Tallmadge, Ohio finished 8th for $1,350. And Michael Drake from Louisville, Kentucky rounded out the final table and collected $1,077 for his 9th place.
With Event #6 being completed, there are still 6 gold rings up for grabs at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The tournament is scheduled to run through October 12.
