The 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana stop is nearing its end with only one gold ring left for grabs. The winner of the $1,675 Main Event is to be determined later today and he or she would be awarded that last piece of WSOP Circuit jewelry.
Meanwhile, Event #11: $365 No-Limit Hold’em was completed with Lucas Johnston from Bloomington, Indiana topping the field to scoop his first WSOP Circuit cash of $10,170 as well as his first gold ring.
The event drew 113 entries and a prize pool of $33,900 was generated. The top 12 places got paid and payouts started from $708. The event took two days to be completed. Day 1 started on Saturday and play continued for fifteen and a half levels. Day 2 took place on Sunday with the nine finalists returning to play the final table.
The final day started with Frank Covich, who won Event #2 at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, as the chip leader with 327,500 in chips. Johnston was third in chips at the beginning of the final table.
Things happened really quickly at first, with two players leaving the final table within the first several hands of play. More were eliminated at quite a rapid pace until there were only three players left. Then it took several hours before the heads-up match was set. Eventually, it was Covich whom Johnston faced heads-up.
On what turned out to be the last hand in play, the one-time WSOP Circuit gold ring winner from Murfreesboro, Tennessee could not hold up against his opponent’s [9c][Ad] and had to settle for the runner-up finish and the amount of $6,286.
As for the winner, he collected $10,170 and his first-ever WSOP Circuit gold ring. The player said that this was his first real tournament and he was really nervous at the beginning. Yet, at a later stage, he started frustrating his opponents in order to accumulate more and more chips. As it could be seen, his strategy proved to be successful.

Dustin Pierce from Indianapolis, Indiana finished 3rd to collect $4,476. Anthony Ayer from Calhoun, Kentucky took $3,251 for his 4th place in the event. Gregory Masters from Kenova, West Virginia took 5th place for a payout of $2,408.
Ty Leisure from Muncie, Indiana finished 6th to scoop $1,818. Cody Pack, who won Event #5 a few days ago, took 7th place last night for $1,399. Randall Cox from Springfield, Kentucky received $1,095 for finishing 8th in the event. Gregory Wilson from Streamwood, Illinois rounded out the final table for a payout of $873.
