Atlantic City September Casino Revenue Up 10.8%

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement posted information about the revenue that Atlantic City’s eight surviving casinos generated in September. Overall revenue amounted to $230.1 million, up 10.8% compared to the $207.7 million posted for the same period in 2014.

The state gambling regulator pointed out that the positive results were due to the fact that all of the Labor Day weekend was in September, whereas the Friday through Sunday weekend was in August last year.

Including discontinued gambling operators, overall revenue increased 9.9% in September from the $209.4 million posted for the same month a year ago.

There are eight operational casinos in Atlantic City after four gambling venues closed doors last year. The state Division of Gaming Enforcement announced that only two of those posted drops in their September revenue – Bally’s and Trump Taj Mahal. As for the rest, most of them even reported a double-digit growth over the period in review.

Bally’s generated a total of $18.8 million in September, down 4.2% from the $19.6 million posted for the same month a year ago. Revenue at Borgata increased 13.5% year-on-year to reach $66.3 million last month. Revenue from casino operations amounted to $62.9 million. Proceeds from Internet gambling services totaled $3.4 million.

Caesars posted September revenue of $31.1 million, up 19.1% from the $26.1 million reported for the same month in 2014. Caesars Interactive New Jersey, Caesars’ online casino division, generated $2.7 million last month, down 0.3% year-on-year.

Revenue at Golden Nugget totaled $19.7 million in September, up 20.9% year-on-year. Casino operations generated $17.3 million and online gambling contributed $2.4 million. Harrah’s posted revenue of $31.6 million compared to the $31.3 million reported for September 2014.

Revenue at Resorts Casino increased 31.8% last month to $15.3 million. Resorts Digital, the online casino division of the aforementioned gambling venue, generated a total of $944,299 in September. It commenced operations in February 2015 and was granted a full casino license in August.

Tropicana posted a 15.3% increase in revenue from September 2014. The venue generated a total of $27 million last month compared to the amount of $23.4 million reported last year. Casino gaming win totaled $24.4 million last month and Internet gambling win contributed $2.6 million.

As mentioned above, Trump Taj Mahal was one of two casinos that reported a drop in its September revenue. The venue generated the amount of $16.7 million last month, down 4.6% year-on-year.

Revenue from Atlantic City’s eight gambling venues amounted to almost $2 billion for the first nine months of the year, up 4.1% year-on-year. Including the discontinued operators, proceeds dropped 8.4% from the amount of $2.1 billion posted for the same nine-month period a year ago.

Internet operations in New Jersey generated a total of $12 million in September, up 17.3% year-on-year. The amount of $108.7 million was generated during the first nine months of the year, representing a 15.8% increase from the $93.6 million reported for the same period in 2014.
