The traditional weekly update of the GPI ranking showed poker pro Byron Kaverman at its top with 4,257.36 points, followed by Jason Mercier with 4,176.43 points and Anthony Zinno with 4,006.18 points.
And British female poker player Liv Boeree topped the GPI ladies leaderboard. She has collected a total of 1,785.19 points since the beginning of the year, more than any other fellow female poker player. Boeree is followed by Vanessa Selbst with 1,782.10 points and Joanne “JJ” Liu with 1,706.34 points.
Generally speaking, the British female poker pro, who is a member of Team PokerStars Pro, ranks 256th in the general GPI ranking and 368th in the GPI Player of the Year one.
It could be said without the slightest exaggeration that Boeree is among the most enticing poker personalities of our time. She is not only a profitable poker player but is also involved in a number of charity causes.
Boeree’s live tournament earnings currently amount to $2,929,162. She has managed to collect the money in a total of 69 events over the past eight years. The player has also appeared at the tables of the WSOP, APPT, EPT, and a number of other prestigious events.
Boeree is a one-time EPT Main Event champion. She won her title back in 2010, when she topped the field of the EPT Season 6 San Remo €5,300 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event to collect the amount of €1,250,000 ($1,698,300), her best live cash so far.
Earlier this year, the female poker pro was really close to winning a major EPT event, but the odds were not in her favor and she had to content with a third-place finish. Boeree took 3rd place in the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €25,500 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Max and scooped €391,000 ($449,383) of the entire prize pool.
Other major achievements over the course of her career were her 2nd place in the 2014 UKIPT Season 4 Edinburgh £1,100 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for a payout of £59,180 ($97,057), and her 1st place in the 2008 Ladbrokes Poker European Ladies Championship $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event for $42,000.
As mentioned above, Boeree is also doing some charity work. She is a board member for Raising for Effective Giving, a community of poker pros who want to change the world for the better through donating a portion of their poker winnings and studying the most effective ways to donate. The organization also promotes “effective giving to the poker-interested public.”
