The €550 Pot-Limit Omaha featured a field of 503 entries and a prize pool of €243,955. The top 56 finishers got a share of the money, with payouts starting from €830. It took three days and 25 Levels of play before the name of the champion was announced.
Day 3 saw eight players returning to play the official final table. It started with Canadian Doug Lee as the chip leader with a total of 827,000 in chips. Boatman was second in chips at the beginning of the final table with 474,000.
The heads-up match between Boatman and Grzegorz Grochulski from Poland was set in Level 24. Play started with Grochulski holding almost two times more chips than his opponent. However, Boatman gradually caught up, took the lead, and defeated the Pole.
The last hand in play occurred in Level 25. Grochulski raised and then called all-in after Boatman pushed. The British player tabled [Qh][Jh][10d][6d] against his opponent’s [9s][9d][7s][2h]. The board ran out [Kd][4c][3s][10h][9h], securing the winner with a straight and the Pole with a worthless set. Thus, Grochulski had to settle for the runner-up finish and the amount of €33,910.
As for Boatman, he collected his second WSOP gold bracelet and the amount of €54,725. The player won his first gold piece during the 44th Annual WSOP in 2013 when he topped the field of the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em. Apart from his bracelet, he also scooped the amount of $546,080 of the entire prize pool, his best live cash so far.
