Texas-based poker player Cord Garcia topped the field of the $1,125 No-Limit Hold’em or Event #7 on the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond schedule to collect his second gold ring and the first-place prize of $39,759.

Here it is important to note that Garcia is no stranger to the world of poker as earlier this summer, he emerged victorious in the largest poker event ever held. The player won the 2015 WSOP Colossus $565 No-Limit Hold’em, which attracted a record field of 22,374 entries, to capture his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet and the amount of $638,880.

The $1,125 No-Limit Hold’em featured a much smaller field and prize pool but it took Garcia some time to emerge victorious as he had really tough competition. The two-day tournament attracted as many as 142 entries who created a prize pool of $142,000. The top 15 spots got paid, with payouts starting from $2,397.

Day 2 of the event saw 10 players returning, with Garcia holding the majority of chips. He had a total of 442,000 and was followed by Kyle Julius with 304,000 and Brandon Fish with 272,500. In fact, the three players were the last remaining at the final table after a few hours of play.

Three-handed play lasted more than three hours and started with Julius as the chip leader. However, the player from Naperville, Illinois could not hold up against Fish and was eliminated in 3rd place for a payout of $17,739.

Heads-up play started with Garcia holding more than two times more chips than his opponent. Chips swung from one player to the other for more than two hours. Yet, it was Fish who got eliminated. The player from Kearney, Nebraska had to settle for the runner-up finish and the amount of $24,575. He has previously won two gold rings.

As for Garcia, apart from the gold ring and the first-place prize of $39,759, he was also granted a seat into the $1,675 Main Event. Including last night’s payout, the player’s total live earnings currently amount to $1,311,252, with more than $800,000 collected over the span of the past five months. And as mentioned above, Garcia captured his second-ever gold ring last night. He won his first gold piece in 2012 when he topped the field of a $365 No-Limit Hold’em event at Horseshoe Bossier City.

Philip Ariganello from East China, Michigan took 4th place in the tournament and scooped $13,034 of the entire prize pool. James Kasputis from Rockford, Illinois finished 5th for $9,744. Fadi Hamad from Danvers, Illinois received $7,408 for his 6th place.

Sasidhar Bobba from Chicago, Illinois took 7th place for $5,727. Kevin Andriamahefa from Chicago, Illinois finished 8th and was paid $4,499. Maxx Coleman from Wichita, Kansas took 9th place to receive $3,591. Javier Zarco scooped $2,911 for his 10th place in the event.
