The EPT Season 12 Malta poker festival is currently underway at Portomaso Casino. After winning three WPT events and a WSOP gold bracelet within the course of several months, American poker pro Anthony Zinno captured yet another title. The player topped the field of the €5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed side event to collect the amount of €67,610 and the tournament trophy.

The event attracted a total of 41 entries who created a prize pool of €198,850. Only the top 6 finishers received a share of the money, with payouts starting from €13,920. Notable poker pros like Scott Seiver, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Davidi Kitai, and Jason Mercier were among those who were not lucky enough to get their hands on the money.

Lucaas Van Den Belt from the Netherlands finished 6th in the event to collect €13,920. Jerzy Slaby from Poland received €17,895 for his 5th place. Lauri Varonen from Finland took 4th place and was paid €22,870. Corey Hochman from the United States finished 3rd to scoop €29,825 of the entire prize pool.

Zinno had to face Tom-Aksel Bedell from Norway heads-up. The Norwegian has previously won two EPT side events and was after his third trophy. Two-handed play started with Bedell holding a total of 440,000 in chips against Zinno’s 380,000. It took about an hour and a quarter for the winner to be determined. Eventually, it was Zinno who bagged up all the chips, the first-place prize of €67,610, and the spade-like tournament trophy. Bedell collected €46,730 for his runner-up finish.

Commenting on his latest victory, Zinno said that he was extremely happy as Pot-Limit Omaha has long been his favorite game. The player also noted that he was really glad to play against his Norwegian heads-up opponent, calling him “a very polite man.”

Zinno has two previous runner-up finishes and one third-place finish in EPT events. Last night, he was lucky enough to finally get a trophy, although in a side event. After his latest victory, Zinno’s tournament earnings now amount to more than $5.2 million.

This summer, the player won his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet for emerging victorious in the $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha. He also collected the amount of $1,122,196, which has been his largest live cash so far. Earlier this year, Zinno also won the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic C$5,000 Main Event, the WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 Championship, and the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars $25,000 High Roller.
