Dominik Nitsche Moves Up in GPI Ranking

Top 3 of the GPI leaderboard remained absolutely the same after its traditional weekly update. Byron Kaverman is still reigning with a total of 4,407.20 points. Jason Mercier is second with 4,275.56 points and Anthony Zinno is third with 4,025.88 points.

German poker pro Dominik Nitsche was among those seen climbing a little in the leaderboard. The player moved one position from last week and is now ranking 8th with 3,698.28 points. Here it is important to note that this has been Nitsche’s best rank since he entered the leaderboard.

The 25-year-old German, now residing in the United Kingdom, could be described as one of the world’s best young poker players and this would not be an exaggeration at all. He is a proud holder of three WSOP gold bracelets, one WPT title, and could boast of first-place finishes in other prestigious tournaments.

Nitsche’s first cash was registered back in 2009, when the player was only 19 years old. He topped the field of the LAPT Season 2 $5,200 Main Event for a first-place prize of $381,030. The player has cashed in 97 more events since then and has collected total live winnings of $5,096,227.

The young German won his first WSOP gold bracelet in 2012 when he finished 1st in the WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event. Apart from the shiny gold piece, the player also scooped $654,797 of the prize pool, his largest live cash so far.

Bracelets number two and three came two years later. First, Nitsche won the 2014 WSOP National Championship. He collected the amount of $352,800 for his triumph. A few weeks later, he also topped the field of the 45th Annual WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event for $335,659.

As mentioned above, the player could also boast of one WPT title. In 2012, Nitsche won the WPT Johannesburg $3,300 Main Event, part of the Emperors Palace Poker Classic. He received $206,153 for his 1st place.

Although he has not won any major tournament since the beginning of 2015, it has been the German’s most profitable year. He has collected almost $1.3 million since January. His biggest live cash this year amounted to $479,732 and the player received it for finishing runner-up to Sean Winter in the Bellagio Cup XI $10,400 No-Limit Hold’em event.

Apart from his achievements at the felt, Nitsche is also a quite profitable online player. He could be spotted on PokerStars and Full Tilt under the screen names ‘Bounatirou’ and ‘JustLuck1337’. His total online earnings currently amount to $3,364,513.
