Popular female poker player Vanessa Selbst informed her Twitter followers and the rest of the world, for that matter, that she is going to officially join Twitch this Saturday, November 28. Selbst is to have her first-ever Twitch live stream at 7 pm EST and will be watching an old episode of EPT.
The player invited her followers to join her at the said time, saying that she will comment on the event they all will be watching. Selbst is not the first poker pro to turn to the popular live streaming video platform. In fact, Twitch has turned into some sort of a sensation in the world of poker over the past year.
Popular poker pros such as Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Jaime Staples, and many more have jointed the platform, completely changing the way poker is broadcast around the world. Essentially, Twitch gives players the opportunity to stream live while playing, watch poker-related events together with followers, and exchange opinions with other players, poker personalities, and fans of the game.
It all started with Jason Somerville and the Run it UP! series, which thousands of people found particularly enjoyable to watch. The player has been live streaming the series for more than a year now and his Twitch channel has more than 8.8 million views as of today. Somerville not only turned his love for poker into quite a successful feed on the popular platform, but also made a serious contribution to the popularization of the game and the way it is broadcast around the globe.
And as mentioned above, Selbst is the latest poker pro to join the already impressive roster of players streaming live on Twitch on a regular and not so regular basis. At the age of 31, she is indisputably the most successful female poker player of all time with live tournament winnings of more than $11 million and and three WSOP gold bracelets. In fact, Selbst is the only female player to have ever won that many gold pieces.
Her list of poker achievements also includes first places in an EPT Main Event and a PCA High Roller one as well as two final tables in WPT events. Most recently, Selbst topped the field of the $100,000 Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout, facing tough opponents like Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, etc.
