The tournament attracted a field of 557 entries who generated a prize pool of a little more than $1.3 million. It took four days of play for the name of the winner to be announced. Here it is important to note that reigning WSOP Main Event Champion Joe McKeehen was among the notables to enter the Borgata Fall Poker Open Championship. The player, however, was eliminated in 15th place for a payout of $13,507.

The nine-handed final table was reached late on the last day of play. It started with Henry Lu as the chip leader, holding a total of 2,750,000. Dentale was the short stack at the beginning of nine-handed action with 700,000 in chips. However, the player demonstrated persistence and skills that helped him eventually grab the title and the first-place prize.

Theo Nerantzinis was the first to leave the final table. He was eliminated in 9th place by Jason Paster. His share of the prize pool amounted to $27,015. Richie Tenenbaum was the next to go, after he could not make it against Henry Lu. The player’s 8th place in the tournament secured him with a payout of $38,496.

Taylor Von Kriegenbergh was then eliminated in 7th place by Dentale himself. The player took home $49,301 for his efforts. Sang Kim was busted in 6th place by Lu, collecting $62,133 of the entire prize pool.

Dentale took the lead at one point during five-handed play. He had more than 5 million in chips, followed by Lu with 4.9 million. Chris Tryba was the next to hit the rail. The player fell victim to Dentale himself and scooped a payout of $75,641 for his 5th place in the tournament.

Tryba was followed by Scott Matte. The latter could not hold up against Paster and was eliminated in 4th place for $96,577. One-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Henry Lu was the next to go. The player was busted in 3rd place to collect $121,656.

Heads-up play between Dentale and Paster started with the first as the chip leader. Two-handed match actually did not last long. On the last hand in play, Paster went all in with pocket tens but could not hold up against his opponent’s suited queen. The player took home the amount of $189,102 for his runner-up finish.
