The Bicycle Hotel & Casino in Los Angeles, California is currently playing host to another stop on the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit and two events have already been completed. Event #2 or the $365 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty was concluded on Saturday with poker enthusiast Alan Myerson emerging victorious to win his first gold ring and the first-place prize of $7,830.
Including last night’s triumph, Myerson’s live tournament winnings now amount to little more than $1 million. The player said that he was really excited not only for winning the gold piece, but also for eventually hitting the million mark. Myerson, who is an entertainment lawyer and an occasional poker player, has accumulated his earnings over the past ten years. It is interesting to note that he has never scored a six-figure cash in a tournament.
The $365 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty at The Bicycle Hotel & Casino was a two-day event starting on December 4. It attracted a field of 140 players who created a prize pool of $42,000. Being a Bounty tournament, it also secured every player who knocked out an opponent with additional $100. At the end of the event, Myerson had 3 bounties and added $300 to his first-place prize.
Day 1 of the event ended with the completion of the initially scheduled 21 levels. There were only 4 hopefuls at the table at that time. The remaining players had to vote on whether they would continue playing down to a winner or they would return the next day to finish what they had started. Myerson was the only one to want a break and since the vote was not unanimous, play was extended into Day 2.
Myerson started the event’s final day as the chip leader, holding 403,000 in chips. The eventual champion had to play heads-up against one-time gold ring winner Wendy Freedman. Despite facing a tough opponent, Myerson did not lose composure and did his best to capture the gold piece and the first-place prize. As for Freedman, she took home the amount of $4,845 for her second-place finish.
Jim Jarvis took 3rd place for $3,500. Timothy Cramer finished 4th for a payout of $2,570. Brandi Baldwin received $1,920 for taking 5th place in the event. Adam Volen finished 6th to scoop $1,460. Craig Chait was paid $1,130 for his 7th place. Three-time gold ring winner Charles Moore finished 8th, taking home $885 for his efforts. Rounding out the final table, Julian Bach collected $710.
