Hendon Mob’s 2015 Most Popular Players

Lifestyle

Among other things, the Hendon Mob, known to be the world’s largest poker database, ranks the most popular poker players every year. The ranking is based on the number of unique views each poker player has received over the past twelve months. The Hendon Mob updates its ranking on a regular basis throughout the year.

With 2015 nearing its end, here are the players who attracted the greatest attention this year and a little more information about them.

1. Daniel Negreanu

Being the leader in the all-time money list with live tournament earnings of more than $32 million, it is not a surprise that Negreanu draws so much attention. But apart from his poker achievements, and they certainly are numerous, the player is known to be actively working for the popularization of the game of poker and the further growth of the industry. As of December 18, when Hendon Mob’s popularity ranking was last updated, the Canadian poker pro’s profile had 102,490 unique views.

2. Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey is a name that everyone has heard. The player is known not only for his ten WSOP gold bracelets and numerous other live tournament achievements but also for his success online. Over the past twelve months, Ivey has been locked in a legal battle with Atlantic City’s Borgata Casino over allegedly using card counting technique while playing blackjack at the venue. What is more, his performance online was far from impressive as he lost more than $2 million.

Excluding his first place in the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship A$250,000 LK Boutique Challenge for A$2,205,000, Ivey has not had any other significant achievements this year. In fact, he has not appeared much on the felt. Yet, his Hendon Mob profile was the second most visited with a total of 77,886 unique hits.

3. Daniel Colman

Colman gained extreme popularity last year, when he topped the field of the 2014 WSOP The BIG ONE for ONE DROP, winning more than $15 million in prize money. In 2015, the player finished 3rd in the WSOP $111,111 High Roller for ONE DROP for a payout of $1,544,121. Although the young poker pro has not appeared much at poker tables this year, his achievements from last year and his performance at this year’s edition of the WSOP secured him with the third place in Hendon Mob’s yearly popularity ranking. His profile has been seen 64,663 times over the past twelve months.

4. Ole Schemion

The 23-year-old German was also among the players who attracted the most attention in 2015. Eighth in Germany’s all time money list with live tournament earnings of more than $8.2 million, Schemion surely is among the world’s best young poker professionals.

Over the past twelve months, the player had a number of final tables at different EPT events and finished second in the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship A$100,000 No-Limit Hold’em Challenge for A$1,350,000. So far, his Hendon Mob Profile has been seen 49,679 times.

5. Phil Hellmuth

During this year’s edition of the WSOP, Hellmuth won his fourteenth gold bracelet, thus breaking his own record for the most gold pieces ever won by a player. He took down the $10,000 Seven-Card Razz Championship for $271,105. As of December 18, Hellmuth’s Hendon Mob profile had 42,927 unique views.
