With the year coming to a close, it is now official that popular online poker player Viktor “Isildur1” Blom is the winner of 2015’s biggest online pot. It also could be said that the young Swede had a profitable year, winning more than $2 million online over the past twelve months.
In August, Blom, who can be frequently spotted at the tables of online poker rooms under the screen name “Isildur1”, played for his biggest ever pot on PokerStars. He played against Rafael at $200-$400 Pot-Limit Omaha. The pot started with the [8s][7c][3c] appearing on the flop. Isildur1 had the [Js][9c][8c][8] against his opponent’s [Ks][8d][7s][7h]. The turn and the river were of no help to Rafael and it was the Swede to eventually emerge victorious and win the amount of $365,895, which turned out to be the biggest online pot of this year. And here it is important to note that it was Blom’s biggest online pot ever.
Yet, the player, who has generally been recognized as one of the best high stakes online players of our time, has won some other considerable pots over the past several years. In 2012, “Isildur1” collected $355,195 at $100-$200 Pot-Limit Omaha. What is more, earlier in 2015, he scooped a $274,698 pot at $200-$400 Pot-Limit Omaha and a $256,604 one at $200-$400 Pot-Limit Omaha again.
Prior to December 2010, few people in the poker community knew who Isildur1 really was and where he came from. It was announced back then that the player had joined Team PokerStars Pro and shortly after, his identity was revealed. Blom left the roster of elite players in 2012 and soon after joined Full Tilt. In 2014, he announced that he would not renew his contract with the popular online card room.
Apart from his achievements on the online felt, the player has demonstrated excellent performance in live tournaments as well. He won his first major title in 2012, when he topped the field of the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller. Blom collected $1,254,400 for his victory. Overall, his live tournament winnings now amount to more than $1.7 million. Despite his occasional appearances at the tables of different live events, the 25-year-old player is mainly focused on his online poker career.
