The 2016 PCA $100,000 Super High Roller kicked off on January 6 at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, the Bahamas. Day 1 of the event saw 43 entries at the poker tables of the resort’s casino. More people are to enter it as registration is open until the beginning of Day 2. The overall prize pool and the first-place prize are to be announced later today.
Day 2 of the event is slated to start today, January 7, at noon local time. As many as 32 of the world’s best poker players survived Day 1 and are to come back for the second day of play. Action will start with UK-based poker player Talal Shakerchi as the chip leader. Yesterday, he collected a total of 805,000 in chips. The player is closely followed by Nick Petrangelo with 800,000 and Kathy Lehne with 783,000.
Shakerchi is no stranger to the world of poker. The player has previously won two EPT high roller events and has taken part in a number of other prestigious tournaments. Shakerchi won his first EPT high roller title in 2012, when he topped the field of the EPT Season 8 Grand Final €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Max Turbo High Roller to collect €223,000.
