Day 2 of the 2016 PCA $100,000 Super High Roller was completed last night with 6 remaining players that are to return today to play down to a winner and poker pro Bryn Kenney as the chip leader. Play started with the 32 Day 1 survivors and 9 more entries who took advantage of the late registration option.
Thus, the field of this year’s edition of the popular tournament was brought up to a total of 58 entries who created a prize pool of $5,626,000. The top 8 finishers are to be paid, with payouts starting from $225,040. Two players – Kathy Lehne and Daniel Dvoress – took their share of the money last night. Lehne collected $225,040 for her 8th place in the event and Dvoress scooped $286,920 for finishing 7th. The 2016 PCA Super High Roller champion is to receive the amount of $1,687,800.
Day 2 of the event started with 2013 winner Scott Seiver being the first to leave. He was soon followed by defending champion Steve O’Dwyer, Erik Seidel, Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Selbst, and Jason Mercier, and many more. German Fedor Holz was also eliminated, thus being deprived of the chance to win a third high roller event within less than a month.
In December, Holz topped the field of the WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas and only a few days ago, the young player emerged victorious in the first-ever WPT National Philippines $200,000 Triton Super High Roller. Last night, however, the German could not hold up against Selbst and had to leave the tables of the 2016 PCA Super High Roller.
As mentioned above, Bryn Kenney would lead the final 6 survivors into Day 3 of the event. The player collected a total of 3,820,000 in chips. Last year, he finished 3rd in the PCA Super High Roller to collect the amount of $873,880. And this was not his first third-place finish in that same event. During the inaugural PCA $100,000 Super High Roller, Kenney took 3rd place for $643,000.
Kenney is followed by Ankush Mandavia with 3,360,000 and 2015 WSOP Main Event Champion Joe McKeehen with 2,805,000. David Peters (2,085,000), Isaac Haxton (1,395,000), and Mustapha Kanit (1,030,000) are the other 3 finalists.
Day 3 of this year’s edition of the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller is scheduled to start at noon local time and the 6 remaining players will play down to a winner. And the 2016 PCA is to continue with a number of other exciting events. The festival is to feature a total of 104 tournaments and is set to run through January 14.
