The three-day 2015/16 WSOP International Circuit: Casino de Marrakech €1,350 Main Event has just been completed. Mathieu Selides won the tournament after a long and difficult heads-up battle with Anthony Rodrigues to collect €95,479 in prize money and his first-ever Circuit gold ring.

Prior to last night’s victory, Selides had a total of $37,592 in live tournament winnings. According to his cash history, his first in-the-money finish was in March 2015. Since then, he has cashed in 11 other events, including the WSOP International Circuit: Casino de Marrakech €1,350 Main Event.

Day 3 of the Main Event saw 25 hopefuls return to play down to a champion. And it took more than 15 hours of play for his name to become clear. Selides started the day third in chips. However, he managed to take the lead quite quickly and never looked back.

The official nine-handed final table started with the eventual champion holding two times more chips than his nearest competitor. Prior to the heads-up match, Selides eliminated three players, thus securing his chip lead throughout nine-handed action.

And the Frenchman had to face Anthony Rodrigues from Belgium heads-up. Action lasted for four hours. Midway through two-handed play, the two players agreed to split the prize pool. Each of them was to take €90,822 and the winner was to receive the remaining €4,657 and the gold ring.

On what turned out to be the last hand in play, Rodrigues went all in with [Kc][Js]

and Selides called with [Ac][6s]. The [8d][2d][As] appeared on the flop, thus securing Selides with a top pair. The board ran out [Qs] on the turn and [Jc] on the river and that was all. Rodrigues had to settle for the runner-up finish in the prestigious event and the amount of €90,822.

And here are the rest of the finalists and their respective payouts:

Joao Pinto Correia from Portugal took 3rd place to scoop €55,888 of the prize pool. Choukri Chergui from Morocco finished 4th for a payout of €41,916. Frenchman Loic Blarez collected €31,486 for finishing 5th.
