Two-time gold ring winner Kevin Davis from Louisville, Kentucky added another piece to his collection after winning Event #6: $365 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Max, part of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Tunica schedule. The player also captured a total of $20,985 in prize money.
Event #6 was a two-day one and kicked off on January 25. It attracted a field of 264 entries which resulted in the creation of the $79,200 prize pool. The money was distributed to the top 27 hopefuls, with lowest payouts starting from $539.
It is interesting to note that 2003 WSOP Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker was among the players to enter the Horseshoe Tunica $365 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Max. However, he could not make it to the money.
Day 2 of the event saw 7 players return to play down to a winner. The seven-handed table was initially led by Ron Kelley with 500,000. Davis was fourth in chips at the start of the day. Eventually, the player faced James Ross heads-up. Ross, however, could not hold up against his much more experienced opponent. Thus, the player from Champaign, Illinois had to settle for the runner-up finish and the amount of $12,979 of the prize pool.
As for Davis, he collected his third career gold ring and the first-place prize of $20,985. The Kentucky resident won his first-ever WSOP Circuit gold piece in 2008 for winning a Caesars Indiana $340 No-Limit Hold’em Event. Ring number two came three years later. In July 2011, Davis bested the field of the 2011/12 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana $354 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo. The player has a total of 27 WSOP Circuit cashes so far, collecting more than $125,000.
Start-of-the-day chip leader Ron Kelley from Friendswood, Texas finished 3rd in Event #6 to collect $9,022. Tod Bartlett from Dallas City, Illinois took 4th place for $6,341. Raymond Marchi from Eureka, California collected $4,502 for taking 5th place in the event.
One-time gold ring winner Mike Cordell from Little Rock, Arizona took 6th place for a payout of $3,228. Joshua Mancuso from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, yet another gold ring winner at Day 2’s seven-handed table, finished 7th for $2,338.
With the completion of Event #6, there are six more gold rings to be distributed at Horseshoe Tunica in Robinsonville, Mississippi. The four-day Main Event with a $1,650 buy-in is set to begin on January 29.
