News

When it comes to gambling legislation, New York officials seem really cautious and it is not surprising that they were willing to iron out all details before issuing casino licenses. Anyway, the names of the licensees were officially announced in December and Rush Street Gaming and Galesi Group were among the prominent investors given the green light to commence construction of Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady.

The property is to spread over 60 acres of land and it seems the developers spare no effort to make it a noteworthy one. If everything goes according to the initial plan, the casino is to host its first players in March 2017. Actually, the casino had its groundbreaking ceremony yesterday and representatives of Rush Gaming and Galesi Group, as well as the Schenectady Mayor and Legislature Chairman, were among the notable attendees.

According to preliminary statistics, the entire project will cost about $330 million. What is more, market analysts predict that Rivers Casino is to generate as much as $190 million in revenue by the end of 2017.

The property is about to feature a spacious casino hall consisting of 15 poker tables, more than 60 table games and as many as 1,150 slots. There will also be a hotel and its name is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

Apart from the exquisite gambling and accommodation facilities, the property is also going to offer plenty of non-gambling options including an entertainment lounge, spa centre, banquet facility.

Since the aim of the developers is to meet the set deadlines, they are simultaneously constructing different parts of the casino, which is believed to accelerate the building process.

Apart from the purely entertaining aspect, the Rivers Casino & Resort is expected to diversify the local economy as well. As many as 1,200 locals will be hired when the casino is fully operational. Meanwhile, the project will create more than 1400 construction jobs.

Casino representatives are about to start the recruitment process by the end of the month. A special website, intended to help the recruitment process, is also to be launched.

Casino developers have assured local communities that any issues related to the casino construction are to be resolved in a timely manner. As a result, everyone can visit the office of Rush Street, located on State Street Downtown, and receive information about the project. The office will be closed when the casino is fully operational.
