Barry Hutter Reaches Best GPI Rank

Following several final tables at a number of prestigious poker tournaments, some of which high roller ones, American poker pro Barry Hutter reached last week his best GPI rank. After the Wednesday update of the GPI leaderboard, the player now ranks 11th with 3,667.30 points collected over the span of the past 36 months.

Earlier this month, Hutter finished 2nd in two $25,000 Aria High Roller events. First, he finished runner-up to Dan Shak on February 5 to collect the amount of $296,800 and 392.84 GPI points. This was, in fact, the player’s best live cash since the beginning of his poker career. On the very next day, Hutter finished runner-up to Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo. His 2nd place in the event secured him with a payout of $218,880 and 352.96 points.

Hutter has actually been a frequent entry in Aria’s high roller tournaments over the years. In fact, he even won one such tournament in October 2015. The player scooped $214,078 of the prize pool and a total of 411.64 points.

Last year was quite successful for the Florida-based poker pro. He collected more than $1.2 million from various live tournaments, won his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet during the 46th annual edition of the popular Series, and had several final table appearances at other prestigious tournaments.

Speaking of Hutter’s performance during the WSOP, the player cashed in five events during last year’s edition of the festival, collecting more than $400,000. Most importantly, he topped the field of the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout for $283,546 and his first WSOP-related gold piece. Following his victory, he also added 218.44 GPI points.

A fifth-place finish in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $25,4000 High Roller for $141,900 and 336.77 GPI points and yet another 5th place, this time in The River Poker Series $2,500 Main Event for $108,161 and 313.32 GPI points were also among the player’s most notable achievements over the course of the past calendar year.

And given the fact that Hutter has collected more than $500,000 during the first two months of 2016, he will most likely beat his own record from last year in terms of tournament winnings. Overall, the player has a total of $3,072,510 in live tournament earnings from as many as 86 different events.
