UK-based gambling company Rank Group Plc announced that Leon Thomas has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the operator’s online bingo division. Mr. Thomas’ appointment is effective as of today and he is to report directly to Martin Pugh, Managing Director of Mecca Bingo, known to be Rank Group’s bingo division.
Prior to joining the gambling operator, Mr. Thomas has taken the post of Managing Director of US Operations at provider of online gambling solutions NYX Gaming. It is also important to note that the official is no stranger to the world of online bingo as he had formerly served as Managing Director of online bingo brand Tombola.
Being appointed as Chief Operating Officer at Rank, Mr. Thomas will be in charge of the company’s online bingo brands in both the UK and Europe. He will be overseeing their overall performance and further growth and, as mentioned above, will be reporting their progress to Mecca Bingo Managing Director Martin Pugh.
Rank Group CEO Henry Birch said in a statement from earlier today that he is delighted that Mr. Thomas is joining their team. Mr. Birch further noted that Rank has already established itself as one of the leaders in the provision of online bingo options and given Mr. Thomas’ experience in the field, the operator will certainly take its digital bingo offering, both in the UK and across Europe, to the next level. Thus, Rank and its online bingo brands will be able to provide customers with “seamless multi-channel experience.”
Mr. Thomas commented on his appointment, saying that he is happy to join the gambling operator at such an exciting stage in its evolution. The company’s new Chief Operating Officer further noted that Rank has excellent assets and brands and all the potential to further grow its online gambling operations both internationally and in the UK.
Apart from its bingo offering, Rank also operates Grosvenor Casinos, a brand that offers both land-based and online casino options. Its land-based offering includes traditional table games as well as slot machine games. As for its digital division, it offers a live casino, among other things.
Apart from the Grosvenor Casinos brand, Rank is also in charge of the enracha brand, which runs 9 gambling venues across Spain. Those feature community games like bingo as well as traditional casino games.
