NMi Helps TonyBet Receive First Online Gambling Device Certificate in Lithuania

News

Gaming testing laboratory NMi announced today that it has been selected by TonyBet to assist the gambling operator in receiving the first remote gaming device certificate under Lithuania’s new gambling regulations.

After the recently announced changes in the country’s gambling law, NMi was among the first testing laboratories to receive accreditation approval by Lithuania’s Gaming Control Authority. And it has been chosen by TonyBet to test the gambling company’s online games and poker system.

Under the new gambling regulations, all online gambling operators providing their services in the country need to apply for a license, otherwise their operations would be deemed illegal. Several such illegal gambling websites have already been blocked by local authorities, thus making it difficult for Lithuanian players to access their accounts.

Warren Lush, representative for TonyBet Poker, said that following the new regulations, they have decided to certify their online poker system quickly and comprehensively and this is why they have chosen NMi for the purpose. Mr. Lush explained their decision with the fact that they want their Lithuanian players to play on a legal website.

TonyBet has actually become the first online gambling operator to be certified by the local gambling regulator as no other company has applied for the needed certification yet.

Julian Borg-Barthet, Business Development Manager for NMi’s gaming division, said that by the time they were contacted by TonyBet, they had already been granted an approval by Lithiuania’s Gaming Control Authority in relation to gaming machine certifications and had already progressed in their discussions with the authority regarding the future provision of online gambling options within the country.

Mr. Borg-Barthet also pointed out that it is important to them to make it possible for their customers to be pioneers within new jurisdictions’ gambling markets and that being chosen to work with TonyBet Poker is yet another indication of the laboratory’s “capacity, experience, and flexibility.”

Andrew Rosewarne, Director for NMi’s gaming division, said that they were thankful for the quick accreditation turnaround by Lithuania’s Gaming Control Authority and that they are delighted with the chance to assist TonyBet Poker in showing its determination to operate in full compliance with the country’s latest gambling regulations.

Being a trusted testing laboratory and certification body, NMi currently manges laboratories in Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK.
