Sky Betting & Gaming Becomes UK Racing’s Latest Authorised Betting Partner

The British Horseracing Authority and online gambling operator Sky Betting & Gaming announced that they have signed a three-year agreement. Under its terms, the Leeds-based gaming company is to become the latest Authorised Betting Partner to be working with the the official British horseracing governing body.

The deal will become effective as of April 1, 2016. Among other things, Sky Betting & Gaming has agreed to voluntarily contribute certain amounts of money to the British Horseracing Authority over the three-year period stated in the agreement. No other information regarding the contract between the gaming operator and the regulatory body has been released as usually details on such deals remain confidential.

Commenting on the latest Authorised Betting Partner to join the initiative, Nick Rust, Chief Executive of Great Britain’s horseracing governing body, said that they are delighted to welcome Sky Betting & Gaming. According to Mr. Rust, the deal shows that the gambling operator understands the benefits from such a partnership. The official added that they are all looking forward to working with their newest partner and to delivering all the benefits from being an Authorised Betting Partner.

Richard Flint, CEO of Sky Betting & Gaming, said that they are pleased with their voluntary agreement with the country’s horseracing regulator. The official further noted that the partnership makes perfect sense for both sides and is indicative of his company’s continued support for a sport that is quite popular among their gambling customers. Mr. Flint concluded his statement by saying that they are looking forward to further developing the partnership in the years to come.

Last month, another popular gambling operator joined the Authorised Betting Partner initiative, which was officially launched early in 2016. Similarly to Sky Betting & Gaming, gambling company BetVictor inked a three-year agreement with the British Horseracing Authority. Under its terms, the operator would be able to sign commercial deals with racecourses around Great Britain, thus reaping promotional and kitemark benefits from its partnership with the horseracing governing body. In exchange, BetVictor will have to contribute a certain amount of money to the industry.

Betfair, bet365, and 32Red have also signed similar agreements with the British Horseracing Authority to receive the Authorised Betting Partner status.
