The partypoker WPT Vienna €3,300 Main Event is coming to a close with only six players left. They are set to return today at the tables of Montesino Wien to play down to a winner. Although Zoltan Gal will start the tournament’s final day as the chip leader, it is German Dietrich Fast who will have eyes set on as the player is going for his second WPT title within less than a month.
The event kicked off on March 15 with two starting flights. It attracted a total of 234 entries and a prize pool of €680,940 was generated. The top 27 finishers are to receive a share of the money.
Day 4 of the event started with 16 remaining players returning to the tables of Montesino Wien to set the official six-handed final table. It is interesting to note that there were three former WPT champions to enter the event and all three returned for its penultimate day holding the three heaviest chip stacks. Dietrich Fast was the chip leader with 1,200,000. He was followed by John Gale with 769,000 and Julian Thomas with 708,000.
By the end of the day, there were only 6 remaining players and Fast was the only WPT title holder left. And although the player did not end Day 4 as the chip leader, he definitely dominated much of the play throughout the day.
As mentioned above, the German is going for his second WPT victory after late in February, he bested the field of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 Main Event for $1,000,800, his career best live cash so far. The player will start Day 5 of the partypoker WPT Vienna €3,300 Main Event second in chips with a stack of 1,594,000.
Hungarian Zoltan Gal is set to return to Montesino Wien as start-of-the-day chip leader with 1,826,000. Last September, the player won the partypoker WPT National Vienna €1,100 Main Event, which took place at that same venue, to collect the amount of €55,000. Now, the player has the chance to win an event on WPT’s Main Tour schedule.
