
Despite the significant investment the gaming company made in 2015, its EBIT improved from a loss of €14.2 million reported for 2014 to EBIT loss of €13.4 million for the twelve months ended December 31, 2015. Net results improved from a negative of €16 million generated in 2014 to a negative of €10.8 million in 2015.
The lottery operator revealed that the favorable jackpot trends and its marketing efforts resulted in an increase in the number of new customer registrations in 2015. A total of 361,000 new customers registered with Lotto25 last year compared to 284,000 new customer registrations reported for the previous year. The company had a total of 883,000 registered customers by the end of December 2015.
Lotto24 said that the growth in billings and revenue resulted in the company expanding its presence in the German lottery market. It increased its market share to 26% in 2015. The operator held a 21% share in the year before. According to data published by the German Lottery Association, the country’s 16 lottery operators generated €520 million in online sales in 2015 compared to €390 million in the year before. Online sales generated by Lotto24 accounted for 7% of the overall figure.
In 2015, the lottery operator set up its own IT department in order to be able to meet its own development needs in a more quick and flexible manner and to ensure technological independence. New products, with Keno being among those, were integrated into the online platform earlier this year.
Commenting on the company’s performance in 2015, Lotto24 CEO Petra von Strombeck said that last year, they managed to expand their market leadership, to reach a number of important milestones, and to leave the start-up phase. Ms. von Strombeck further noted that they all believe the lottery operator will maintain its successful course and that it is well-prepared to further grow its market lead in 2016.
