Developer and distributor of solutions for the international gaming and lottery industries International Game Technology announced that it has penned a seven-year agreement with the Virginia Lottery, under the terms of which IGT would provide the organization with lottery services and technology. The gaming and lottery developer said that it has signed the contract through its subsidiary IGT Global Solutions Corporation.
The agreement has been inked after IGT had been selected as the preferred candidate among other bidders. The original contract is valid up until October 21, 2024. Under its terms, it could be extended two more times for three years.
The Virginia Lottery is to be provided with components of Aurora, known to be one of IGT’s latest lottery solutions. Aurora Open Retail will give the lottery organization the opportunity to simultaneously support different kinds of retailer solution devices.
The Aurora Lottery Services Portal will be another component the Virginia Lottery will be given access to. Generally speaking, it is an interactive website that offers a number of tools aimed at helping retailers grow their business.
Under the terms of the agreement, the lottery organization will be delivered 5,500 draw-based lottery terminals Altura Flex. And among other things, the Virginia Lottery will also see its communications network upgraded so that utilizes high-end satellite technology.
Commenting on IGT’s latest contract, Michael Chambrello, CEO of the company’s North America Lottery operations said that they are pleased to extend their partnership with the Virginia Lottery. Mr. Chambrello further noted that the solutions the organization has been offered so far and the ones that it will be delivered from now on have been based on comprehensive research of what Virginia customers want as well as of the local market’s specifics.
The executive said that the Virginia Lottery has enjoyed a significant sales growth over the past six years, with the most recent full-year sales totaling more than $1.8 billion. He said that they will keep on working with the state Lottery in a bid to help it continue growing and maximizing proceeds.
Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto said that they are looking forward to taking their customer service to the next level when IGT’s latest terminals appear on the market next year. Ms. Otto further added that the extended partnership will help the state Lottery continue meeting and exceeding profit goals to support public education.
