The Betway World Cup of Darts will see two-player teams from 32 nations competing in the Pairs format of the £250,000 tournament. This year, it will take place on June 2-5 and will be televised on Sky Sports and broadcast globally.
The latest announcement comes as another indication to Betway’s commitment to high-level darts as the gambling operator has also been a main sponsor of the Betway Premier League Darts for the past two years.
Anthony Werkman, Director of Marketing & Operations at Betway, commented that their ongoing sponsorship of the Betway Premier League Darts has proved to be immensely successful and that through the latest partnership, the company will strengthen its relationship with the Professional Darts Corporation and will support another “blockbuster darts format.”
Mr. Werkman also added that the upcoming Betway World Cup of Darts will turn out to be yet another “fantastic showcase” for international darts and that they are all thrilled with the opportunity to be once again working closely together with the Professional Darts Corporation. The executive said that they are looking forward to bringing fans of the sport “closer to the action” in Germany, where the tournament is set to take place in June.
Commenting on the agreement, Barry Hearn, Chairman of the Professional Darts Corporation, said that they are extremely happy that the gambling operator has decided to further its support of the championships organized by the corporation.
The official also pointed out that the upcoming tournament will be a great platform for Betway to showcase its brand worldwide as the World Cup of Darts has seen its popularity grow more and more over the past several years. This was attributed to the ever-increasing interest from broadcaster from around the world as well as to the growing number of nations that have expressed interest in becoming involved in the championship.
This year, reigning champions Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis from England will be among those competing for the title. Representatives from the Netherlands, Wales, Scotland, Belgium, Australia, the Philippines, South Africa, New Zealand, and many more will also be among those to take part in the £250,000 tournament.
