
Commenting on the new appointments, GIG said that it is now its main purpose to establish new group executive management, following a period of solid growth in all its segments. The management team will have to individually manage the group’s three main business areas – online gambling, the provision of cloud services, and digital marketing.
At present, Mr. Ångman is Chairman and CEO of Mobenga, a Playtech subsidiary specializing in the provision of mobile sports betting technology. He joined the company as its COO back in 2011. Formerly, he had worked for Electrolux, BRIO AB, and Dometic.
As for Ms. Laaksonen, she is taking the post of Chief Marketing Officer at Guts at present. She joined the brand in 2014. Prior to joining Guts, she had served as Director of Digital Marketing and CRM at Nokia and Director of CRM at gambling operator Betsson Group. Ms. Laaksonen is replacing Robin Reed as Managing Director of Guts. She is to take on her new role with immediate effect.
GIG CEO Robin Reed said that it is of particular importance to their transformed business to “couple the drive and innovation” the company is known for with “operational excellence.” The executive explained that both Mr. Ångman and Ms. Laaksonen have the experience needed and have the qualities they are looking for in their top management team members.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Ångman said that he is really excited to be joining GIG as the company is among the most promising players in the market. He further noted that with his experience from Mobenga, he would most certainly contribute to the further strengthening of the group’s positions.
GIG started its operations as an affiliate. Gradually, the company grew into a gambling operator and is currently a well-known provider of technology for the international gambling industry.
