Day 3 of the EPT Season 12 Grand Final €5,300 Main Event was completed late last night with 74 players bagging up their chips. Poland’s Marcin Chmielewski finished the day as the chip leader, holding a total of 1,314,000 in chips.

At the age of 40, Chmielewski is an occasional poker player and the owner of a trucking firm in his home country. He started Day 3 of the major tournament as one of the big stacks. Throughout the day, he managed to keep his position somewhere under the top. Eventually, he won a huge pot that secured him with the top position. A few days ago, the player finished 20th in the France Poker Series €2,200 High Roller for €7,920. The FPS is currently taking place as part of the EPT Grand Final festival.

Chmielewski will be leading the 74 survivors into Day 4. Cards are set to be thrown in the air today at Monte-Carlo Casino at 12:00 pm local time.

There are two former EPT champions that are to return today – Aaron Gustavson and Joseph Mouawad. Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst and Team PokerStars Online member Randy “nanonoko” Lew are among the more popular poker players to be still contending for the first-place prize and the great honor to be crowned the EPT Season 12 Grand Final Main Event champion.

There were, however, some well-known players that could not make it through Day 3 of the tournament. Englishmen Jack Salter and Stephen Chidwick, Faraz Jaka, Dimitar Danchev, Davidi Kitai, and multiple WSOP gold bracelet winner Erik Seidel were among the popular poker pros who got busted yesterday.

This year, the Main Event attracted an overall field of 1,098 entries. Those created a prize pool of €5,325,300. The top 159 places are to be paid, with min-cash worth €8,890. Apart from the tournament trophy, the winner will also receive the lion’s share of the prize pool or the amount of €961,800, to be more precise.

Spanish player Adrian Mateos topped the field of last year’s EPT Grand Final Main Event. The player collected the tournament trophy and the amount of €1,082,000 for his performance. It is interesting to note that he was only 20 at that time.

The EPT Season 12 Grand Final €5,300 Main Event will run through Friday, May 6, when the official final table is set to be played.
