Foxwoods Resort Casino Reports Increase in April Slot Revenue

Events & Reports

Foxwoods Resort Casino, one of the two casinos operating within Connecticut’s borders, posted on Friday information about the revenue generated by slot machines at the property in April. Proceeds from slots amounted to $40.7 million last month, up 5% from the $38.7 million generated during the same month of the previous year.

Slots handle totaled $496.3 million in April, reflecting a 2.1% increase from the amount of $486.1 million wagered in April 2015. Last month, the gambling venue contributed a total of $10.4 million to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund, as part of its gambling compact with the state.

It was in April when Foxwoods launched FoxwoodsONLINE, the casino’s social casino platform. It gives gambling customers of the venue the opportunity to play their favorite games when not at the property. The casino’s interactive gaming product is powered by Greentube’s Greentube Pro platform. Generally speaking, Greentube Pro is a social casino marketing product aimed for private-label customers.

Earlier in May, Greentube announced that it has signed an agreement with fellow developer and provider of gaming solutions Konami Gaming. Under the terms of the deal, Konami Gaming’s titles will be available to Foxwoods gambling customers across desktop and mobile. The developer’s remote gaming server will be integrated into the casino’s IGS so as for Konami’s ever-growing catalog of product offering to be constantly accessible to Foxwoods’ online players.

As mentioned above, Foxwoods Resort Casino is one of the two gambling venues to have been allowed to operate in Connecticut. The hotel and casino complex is located in Mashantucket and is managed by the federally recognized Mashantucket Pequot Tribe.

Mohegan Sun, owned and operated by the Mohegan Tribe, is the other legal casino within the state. The two tribes have recently joint forces and have announced plans for a third Connecticut casino in a bid to blunt competition from neighboring Massachusetts. Gambling operator MGM Resorts International is currently building a $950-million luxury casino resort expected to open doors in the fall of 2018.

Officials for the two tribes have expressed concerns that the said venue would result in job and revenue losses for the two Connecticut casinos. This is why they have introduced the plan for a jointly operated casino to be built in the northern part of the state. In order for the venue to open doors, certain amendments in the current state laws should be introduced.
