After the Wednesday GPI update, Steve O’Dweyer is the player to be taking 1st place in the ranking. In fact, he has been atop the prestigious poker leaderboard for record 19 weeks now. The player has a total of 4,329.51 points. He is followed by Anthony Zinno with 4,197.65 points. Bryn Kenney ranks 3rd with 4,194.70 points.
If poker players could be categorized, there would be three main categories. Players who strike as particularly good, players whose skills could be described as mediocre, and players who should play poker only for fun. And Thomas Marchese is for sure a player who not just strikes as a good one but as an excellent one. With live tournament winnings of more than $13 million, the American poker pro is one of the most profitable players of our time.
Following the traditional Wednesday update of the GPI ranking, Marchese now ranks 8th with 3,775.18 points accumulated over a period of 36 months. Since September 2015, the player has cashed primarily in Aria High Roller events and has actually won some of those.
Most recently, he finished 3rd in the Aria High Roller XXIX for a payout of $119,893 and 254.16 points. Only a day earlier, the player topped the field of the Aria High Roller XXVIII for $260,655 and 399.44 points. In March, Marchese took down Aria High Roller XXVI, taking home a payout of $369,410 and adding 456.31 points to his GPI score.
Early in 2016, the 22nd edition of the Aria High Roller was also won by the same player. His share of the prize pool totaled $315,000 then. His victory also secured him with 450.86 GPI points. In September, Marchese bested the field of Aria High Roller XIII for $252,400 and 273.71 GPI points.
The player’s first live tournament cashes date back to 2010. Since then he has make it to the money in as many as 67 events and has collected a total of $13,215,156. His best career cash amounted to $1,574,518 and the player collected in 2014, when he finished runner-up to Andrew Lichtenberger in the WPT Five Diamond Wolrd Poker Classic $100,000 No-Limit Hold’em WPT Alpha 8.
