With the WSOP being almost history (the WSOP Main Event final table is yet to be played), poker players and fans of the game are probably wondering where the next exciting tournaments will take place. This year’s summer calendar is rich in opportunities for everyone interested to delve into the poker thrill and here are the noteworthy festivals to kick off over the next seven days.
2016 Sydney Championships
The Star Casino in Sydney will be hosting the 2016 edition of the Sydney Championships from July 26 through August 8. The festival will include as many as nine different events and multiple satellites that guarantee seats into these. The tournaments guarantee prize pools of between A$100,000 and A$650,000.
The A$3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, or Event #8 on the festival’s schedule, is set to kick off on August 5. The tournament will feature two starting flights in two separate days and two more days of play. With that said, it is to be completed on August 8. Entries will be able to win a share of the guaranteed A$650,000 prize pool.
2016 APPT Manila
APPT’s Manila stop will be the next exciting poker-related event to be kicking off this week. The festival will start on July 28 and will take place up to August 8. The poker room at City of Dreams Manila will welcome interested players.
There will be 19 different events to be taking place within the festival. A PHP10,000 No-Limit Hold’em with a guaranteed prize pool of PHP3 million will be the opening event. The five-day PHP50,000 Main Event is slated for August 4-August 8.
partypoker WPT National Rozvadov
King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic is having a busy summer as it is to play host to a number of poker festivals. The partypoker WPT National Rozvadov will be the next such event. It will kick off on July 28 with multiple satellite tournaments.
The actual partypoker WPT National Rozvadov Main Event will begin on August 5. The tournament will admit players who have paid the €1,100 buy-in and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of €200,000.
2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood has become a preferred poker destination for players from around the world. The casino at the luxury resort will play host to a thrilling poker festival this summer, just as it has done over the past several years.
The event will kick off on July 28 with a schedule that includes a total of 28 different tournaments and will run through August 16. Some of the events will feature guaranteed prize pools of between $25,000 and $5 million, others will not. However, all the tournaments included are expected to attract great attention and to draw some of the world’s best poker pros and of recreational players as well.
The four-day $5,350 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million is the festival’s headliner. It will run from August 13 to August 16.
2016/2017 WPT Legends of Poker
WPT Legends of Poker will be the next major event on the 2016/2017 WPT schedule. The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California will welcome the WPT for this exciting tournament. It is set to run from July 28 to September 1 and will feature 30 different events, including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, and mixed formats.
The $4,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event will run from August 27 to September 1. Although Main Events traditionally attract quite a lot of attention, the WPT Legends of Poker will include yet another tournament worth being paid special attention. The $160 No-Limit Hold’em Mega Millions XV QR Concept will be taking place from August 12-23. With 26 starting flights, the event will give interested players multiple chances to enter it. The tournament will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million, but given its structure, that figure will likely be exceeded.
