Chizick became the first winner of the latest Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open edition. The poker festival kicked off on Thursday, July 28, at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. It is interesting to note that the player topped the field of the $250 Omaha/8 tournament as part of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, which took place at the same venue in April.
As mentioned above, yesterday’s $300 Omaha/8 tournament attracted as many as 76 entries. The event was a single-day one and it took 12 hours of play for the name of the eventual winner to be determined. The top nine finishers received a share of the $19,380 prize pool, with lowest payouts amounting to $581.
Chizick was among the short stacks at the time the unofficial ten-handed final table was set. However, the player began building up his stack and it could be said that he dominated the action during the event’s final stages. The eventual winner was responsible for seven of the eight official final table eliminations. Brandon Berkenfeld, who busted in 3rd place for $2,616, and Joey Prosper, who took 2nd place for $4,070, were Chizick’s last victims.
Leonard Germain finished 4th in the tournament for a payout of $1,938. Joel Harwood received $1,454 for taking 5th place. Alan Beyda scooped $1,164 for finishing 6th. Robert Campbell was paid $969 for his seventh-place finish. Michael Lipman took 8th place for $775 and Brett Trevillian collected $581 for rounding out the official final table.
The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open’s schedule includes 28 events. The festival will be running through August 16. Its highlight event – the $5,250 No-Limit Hold’em Championship with a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million, is set to kick off on August 13.
