SBTech Receives Maltese Class 4 Remote Gaming License

News

Provider of online sports betting products and services SBTech announced today that it has been granted a Class 4 Remote Gaming License by the Malta Gaming Authority.

The Maltese gambling regulator is known to be awarding Remote Gaming Licenses in four classes. Generally speaking, the Class 4 License provides licensees with the authority to host and manage online gambling operators. In other words, it is a B2B gaming license, under which providers of remote gambling software through their own platforms can offer management and hosting services to gambling operators.

The Class 4 license by the Malta Gaming Authority comes as an addition to SBTech’s existing licenses from other European regulatory bodies, the UK Gambling Commission included. It will also provide the sports betting and gaming provider with the opportunity to further extend its reach across jurisdictions with regulated remote gaming markets.

Apart from its existing Malta-based B2B customers, with NetBet and ComeOn being among those, SBTech expects to sign additional operators with Maltese licenses in the months to come.

Commenting on the latest announcement, SBTech CEO Richard Carter said that it is part of their strategy to increase the number of regulators they hold licenses from in order to be able to offer their sports betting solutions to more clients. The executive also confirmed that together with Malta Gaming Authority officials and SBTech’s own legal team, the Class 4 License, one that the company has been looking to for quite a long time, has eventually been secured.

Malta Gaming Authority Executive Chairman Joseph Cuschieri commented they are proud with Malta’s status as a highly demanded regulatory jurisdiction and that they have been particularly satisfied with SBTech’s “diligence and thoroughness” in providing all the necessary information throughout the licensing process.

SBTech is best known for the provision of turnkey and fully managed sports betting and gaming solutions for both online and land-based gaming operators. In June, the company received a license by the Romanian gambling regulator – Oficiul National pentru Jocuri de Noroc. Thus, SBTech has become the first sports betting solutions provider to be entering the country’s newly regulated gambling market.
