The general GPI Player of the Year leaderboard annually ranks all poker players from around the world based on their performance throughout the year and the points they accumulate. The player who collects the most points within a calendar year is crowned the GPI Player of the Year. There is, however, a GPI Female Player of the Year race within the general one, showing that poker is not a men’s game only and that there are quite a lot of female players who play poker for a living and do it just as well as men.
Following the latest GPI Player of the Year update, Argentinian player Maria Constanza Lampropulos now ranks first in the female race with a total of 1,561.22 points, collected since the beginning of the year. Lampropulos is followed by Cate Hall with 1,555.15 points and Loni Harwood with 1,380.18 points.

It is interesting to note that she finished runner-up to her boyfriend – popular Argentinian poker pro Ivan Luca. Lampropulos also collected 281.51 GPI PoY points for her deep run in the event.
The female player’s year was marked by another second-place finish in a major tournament. She took 2nd place in the bwin.be WPT National Brussels €1,100 Main Event for a payout of €68,200 and 263.50 points added to her GPI PoY score.
